This is the website of the Colne Lodge No. 2477 situated in the village of Wivenhoe, Essex.
The River Colne is a part of the village life and therefore the Colne Lodge No. 2477 is a seafaring Lodge.
Of the 18 founders of the Lodge which was consecrated in 1893, five lived locally and seven across the river at Rowhedge and just under half had yachting connections, and the traditions of the sea continue in the Lodge today.
The Lodge meets seven times a year on the second Tuesday in February, March, April, May, October, November and December, the dates of forthcoming events and Lodge meetings are shown in our event calendar and if you wish to visit the Lodge, the Secretary can be contacted via the "Contact Lodge Secretary" link again on the left.
It’s worth noting that the May meeting is our traditional ‘laying up’ supper. Historically when our ancient brethren went off to places like the Mediterranean to crew private yachts for the season before returning to their homes and resuming lodge business in the Autumn. This meeting is also know as our ‘Guest Night’ typically to encourage a good show before closing down for the summer. Not only that ! it is also Past Masters Night, the occasion when all of the old boys get their chance to show their mettle!
It will be good to see you there on 9th May.
